Distributing page and news templates in SharePoint Online

According to Copilot, in SharePoint Online, well-designed page and news templates play a crucial role in enhancing collaboration and communication. These templates ensure consistent branding, efficient content creation, and structured layouts. Authors can focus on their message without worrying about formatting, resulting in a seamless user experience across devices. Additionally, templates facilitate targeted content delivery, version control, and SEO optimization. In summary, these templates empower organizations to create impactful content efficiently while maintaining a cohesive visual identity.

Anyways, quite a few of my customers use different templates for news and pages in SharePoint Online. For intranets that have separate sites for news and pages, I’ve devised a solution: I store all the template files in a shared assets site and include a choice column where the customer designates each template as either a news template or a page template. The process automatically removes old templates and generates new ones, ensuring that centrally distributed templates are consistently available in the solution.

Additionally, I’ve developed a Logic App that retrieves these templates and distributes the page and news templates to the appropriate sites within the hub. This approach streamlines the user experience by offering fewer, yet more relevant, templates for selection.
